All inclusive package for Lomawai Fijian Traditional Salt Making

  • We'll pick you up from your hotel at and drop you back there after the tour in 0ur modern air-conditioned van

  • Known for their traditional methods of salt production, you will go to the edge of the mud flats where there are toevu (wells) from which the local people extracted sea water, which they then boil in large pots over a fire. They dig the wells about four metres deep until they reach sand and dead coral at the bottom. When the water level in the pot drops, we refill and continue cooking until it evaporates and the salt residue is left at the bottom.
